# Kokiri Forest and the Inside of the Great Deku Tree
Gear up in Kokiri Forest, enter the Great Deku Tree, and defeat Queen Gohma to earn the Kokiri Emerald.

## Steps

1. Talk to Saria and Mido, then explore the forest. Cut grass and break pots to collect rupees.
2. Find the forest’s only chest to take the Kokiri Sword.
3. Buy the Deku Shield from the Kokiri shop. Mido will not let you pass until you carry both sword and shield.
4. Enter the Great Deku Tree. Light a Deku Stick on a torch and burn the web covering the hole in the first room to drop to the basement.
5. Work upward through the tree. Take the Fairy Slingshot from the second-floor room, and use it on eye switches and out-of-reach targets.
6. Collect the dungeon map and compass if you want a full clear, then reach the boss door at the bottom.

## Boss: Queen Gohma

1. Target the large eye with the Slingshot when she descends from the ceiling to stun her.
2. Strike her with the sword while she is stunned on the floor.
3. When she climbs back up and lays eggs, kill the hatchlings or ignore them and repeat.

## Tips

- Keep a stock of Deku Sticks. Several rooms need fire and sticks burn out quickly.
- The Slingshot is also your first way to hit distant switches, so pick up spare seeds.
